This is the second part of our tutorial series on setting up incoming calls in VICIdial. This guide walks you through how to set up an ingroup. An ingroup is an essential component for handling incoming calls — much like VICIdial’s campaign settings, the ingroup controls how incoming calls are managed and distributed to agents.
-
Log in to the VICIdial administration dashboard.
-
Go to Inbound > In-Groups.
-
Select “Add a New In-Group”.
-
Enter an Ingroup ID. This must be 2–20 alphanumeric characters and must not match any existing campaign ID.
-
Enter a Group Name of 2–30 alphanumeric characters. This is the group description and will appear in the agent interface’s ingroup selection list.
-
Set the Group Color using either a text color name (max 7 characters) or a hex color code beginning with the
#symbol.
-
Set the Active field to Active. This determines whether the ingroup is available to receive calls.
-
You can leave the remaining fields at their default values for now — they can be adjusted after the ingroup is created.
-
Click the Submit button.
-
After the ingroup is created, you will see the full range of ingroup settings available in the VICIdial phone system.
-
Scroll down to the “Agent Ranks for This Inbound Group” section.
-
Check the checkboxes next to the users you want to receive incoming calls for this ingroup.
-
Click Save Changes.
-
Navigate to Campaigns and click Modify on the campaign you want to associate with the ingroup you just created.
-
Find the “Allow Inbound and Blended” field and set it to Y.
-
Click Save Changes.
-
You will now see the “Allowed Inbound Groups” field appear in the campaign settings.
-
Select the ingroup you just created from the list, then click Save Changes.
Your ingroup is now configured and linked to your campaign. Agents assigned to the ingroup will begin receiving incoming calls according to the settings you defined.
